How long does it take to plan a wedding?

This is one of the questions I hear most from couples who reach out to me for the first time. And honestly, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer—it really depends on how you plan to approach the journey: will you work with a professional or take on everything yourselves?

Planning a wedding is a beautiful, emotional adventure, full of dreams waiting to be fulfilled. But it can also be overwhelming, sometimes stressful, and even anxiety-inducing if not handled properly.

If you want to enjoy the process without racing against the clock, I recommend starting about 10–12 months in advance. That way, you’ll have the time to choose vendors calmly, make thoughtful decisions, and truly savor every stage of the experience.

Make a clear, organized list of vendors to contact, and break the planning into monthly deadlines to avoid last-minute stress. Also, don’t lose sight of the budget—monitor it regularly to stay on track!

You might think I say this just because I’m a wedding planner… but try asking couples who managed everything themselves: how did they feel on the big day? Did they really enjoy it? Were they able to focus only on celebrating?

I already know the answer. But I suggest to ask them yourself.
